东契奇坦言不喜欢成名:宁愿打七场抢七也不愿拍宣传照
Luka Doncic Makes Surprising Admission About Being One Of The NBA’s Biggest Superstars

Luka Doncic is one of the biggest superstars in the NBA, but the Los Angeles Lakers guard has made a surprising admission about the eyes that come with his success. Despite being the face of the basketball’s most recognizable franchise, Luka has revealed that he dislikes being famous and feels uncomfortable with his celebrity
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the Slovenian superstar explained that he would much rather compete in high-pressure basketball games than participate in the promotional activities that come with being an NBA superstar.
The interviewer reminded Doncic of his previous statement that he would rather play seven Game 7s than participate in a photo shoot and asked whether that reflected his personality.
“Yeah. I just prefer it. Like I said, being famous is, more times you hate it than you like it. But obviously.”
When asked directly whether being a celebrity makes him uncomfortable, the 27-year-old didn’t hesitate.
“A little bit, I would say. Yeah, definitely. But, I wanted to play basketball, so the fame comes with that.”
His comments offer a unique glimpse into the personality of a player who has spent his entire professional career in the spotlight. Doncic became a professional basketball player as a teenager with Real Madrid before entering the NBA as the third overall pick in the 2018 draft.
He quickly established himself as one of the league’s brightest young stars with the Dallas Mavericks, earning five All-Star selections and becoming one of basketball’s most recognizable international players.
However, his fame reached another level following his blockbuster trade to the Lakers in February 2025.
Playing in Los Angeles comes with enormous expectations, particularly for a franchise that has historically been represented by legendary players such as Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and LeBron James.
And with James leaving the Lakers to join the Philadelphia 76ers this summer, Doncic has become the undisputed face of the franchise. That means more media attention, promotional appearances, endorsement obligations, and public scrutiny than ever before.
Unfortunately for Doncic, avoiding that attention is practically impossible.
He isn’t simply another talented NBA player. He’s a global basketball superstar representing one of the most popular sports franchises in the world. Every performance, public appearance, and statement attracts significant attention, whether he welcomes it or not.
Interestingly, Doncic’s discomfort with celebrity life contrasts sharply with his personality on the basketball court. While he might prefer privacy away from the game, he has never been afraid of embracing the spotlight during the biggest moments.
The six-time All-NBA First Team selection thrives in competitive situations, frequently engaging in trash talk with opponents and delivering spectacular performances under pressure. Last season, Doncic averaged an NBA-leading 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists while shooting 47.6% from the field.
His remarkable production helped the Lakers finish with a 53-29 record before injuries derailed their championship aspirations. Now, entering his first full season as the Lakers’ unquestioned franchise centerpiece, Doncic faces the challenge of leading Los Angeles into another championship pursuit.
With Austin Reaves alongside him and several new additions strengthening the roster, expectations surrounding the Lakers remain incredibly high. Of course, Doncic isn’t the only NBA superstar who has expressed discomfort with fame.
Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic has also spoken about the difficulties of maintaining privacy and establishing personal boundaries despite being one of the world’s most recognizable basketball players.
For players like Doncic and Jokic, basketball is their passion, but celebrity status is an unavoidable consequence of their extraordinary abilities. Ultimately, Doncic’s admission highlights an interesting contradiction in his life.
He loves competing, embraces pressure, and wants to succeed at the highest level, but he doesn’t necessarily enjoy everything that comes with being one of the NBA’s biggest stars.
Unfortunately, as long as he continues producing extraordinary performances in a Lakers uniform, the attention surrounding him is only likely to grow.
