迈克·德安东尼入选名人堂，致辞感谢詹姆斯·哈登信任其在火箭的体系
Mike D’Antoni thanks James Harden for trusting his vision in Houston
Former Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni shouted out James Harden during his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday. D’Antoni and Harden share a special bond, as the former Phoenix Suns coach who aided Steve Nash in becoming a two-time MVP helped Harden win the NBA MVP award in the 2017-2018 season.
“He's one of the most skilled players I've ever coached, and I appreciate the trust he gave me. Thank you, James.”

“But my philosophy had to change to maximize this guy, James Harden. I remember when I went and told him he was gonna run the offense as the point guard, I’m sure he was channeling his inner Bob McAdoo and thought, ‘Coach, just give me the effing ball.’ You were right. He’s one of the most skilled players I’ve ever coached, and I appreciate the trust he gave me. Thank you, James.”
He also showed support to former Houston Rockets general manager Darryl Morey, who was responsible for the spread of analytics in modern-day basketball.
“My Houston GM Daryl Morey is here. He built one of the most analytically advanced organizations in basketball. This Houston Rockets team was like no other. I never had a front office that could back up my instincts with statistics.”
D’Antoni joined the Rockets in 2016 and led the team for four seasons, earning NBA Coach of the Year in the 2017-2018 season. The Rockets saw immense success in his leadership, even finishing the regular season with a 65-17 record and clinching the number one seed in the Western Conference.
They ultimately lost to the Golden State Warriors in seven games in the 2018 Western Conference Finals, led by Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Chris Paul was injured in Game 7. Houston found success once again in the 2018-2019 season, finishing 53-29 and losing in the conference semifinals to the Houston Rockets. He then found success again in the 2019-2020 season, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the semifinals in the NBA bubble during COVID-19.
He announced his departure from the team following their series loss to the Lakers.
