火箭休赛期前瞻:范弗里特回归能否解决关键球问题,博格丹诺维奇状态存疑
Southwest Notes: Harris, Mavs, Pelicans, Rockets, Grizzlies
The Athletic 的 William Guillory 提出火箭 11 位关键成员进入新赛季面临的最大疑问,包括弗雷德·范弗里特回归能否解决球队关键球问题,以及自由球员签约的博格丹·博格丹诺维奇是否还有余力。
San Antonio wasn’t the only team with interest in veteran forward Tobias Harris this offseason, but of his potential suitors, the Spurs were the one he considered the best bet to help him achieve his top remaining goal as a player.
“I have one goal that I would love to accomplish through the rest of my career,” Harris said, per Jeff McDonald of The San Antonio Express-News (subscription required). “That’s to win a championship.”
The Spurs, who wanted to add a versatile, scoring forward to complement big man Victor Wembanyama and guards De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper, reciprocated Harris’ feeling that the two sides were an ideal fit. Fox said the addition of Harris will be “big for us,” while Keldon Johnson stated that the 34-year-old’s “presence has been felt already.” Head coach Mitch Johnson, meanwhile, told reporters that the forward’s “reputation precedes him as a human being and as a player.”
“I look at the talent of the group, the trajectory of the team and just the willingness of wanting and striving to win a championship, and all those things align with me personally,” Harris said. “We fit in terms of what I bring to the table, but also in terms of what the team is striving for and where they want to get in the years to come. In my opinion, it’s a perfect match.”
We have more from around the Southwest:
- If Dwight Powell is going to make the Mavericks’ 15-man regular season roster, who might be the odd man out? Christian Clark of The Athletic weighs that question, noting that it’s hard to find an obvious answer. Dallas likely isn’t eager to part ways with any of its lowest-paid players, including Marcus Sasser, Sergio de Larrea, Tarik Biberovic, and Moussa Cisse. And while forward Caleb Martin is potentially expendable, the front office seems unlikely to attach draft assets to move off his two-year, $19.4MM contract, Clark writes.
- Speaking at media day to reporters, including Rod Walker of NOLA.com (subscription required), Pelicans executive VP of basketball operations Joe Dumars indicated he doesn’t have a specific win total in mind that would make the 2026/27 season a success, but he did say that New Orleans would “like to be a playoff team.” That would require a significant step forward for a club coming off a 26-56 season, but unlike last fall, the Pelicans have a fully healthy roster in camp this fall, which new head coach Jamahl Mosley referred to as “huge,” according to Walker (subscription required).
- William Guillory of The Athletic poses the biggest questions facing 11 key members of the Rockets entering the fall, including whether the return of Fred VanVleet can help solve the team’s issues in the clutch and whether free agent addition Bogdan Bogdanovic has anything left in the tank.
- Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal passes along some highlights from the first day of the Grizzlies’ training camp, observing that Zach Edey isn’t fully participating in two-a-day practices yet despite being medically cleared following ankle surgery.
