LIFE UPDATE: After 10 amazing years (Yes, I'm old) covering the New Orleans Pelicans in my hometown, I'm officially moving to Houston to shift my role and cover the Houston Rockets on a full-time basis for us at @TheAthletic. I'll still be around covering Pelicans news here and there. But I'm extremely excited and grateful to begin this next phase in my career.

Rockets rookie Bruce Thornton in his Summer League debut: 27 points 7-18 FG 3-8 3P 7-7 FT 3 assists 3 rebounds 3 steals +20 in 35 minutes Strong showing. He's going to deal with a lot adjusting to the size/length/speed of the league, but his physical strength is an immediate fit. Used his football build to ward defenders off. Looked very comfortable making drive-and-kicks and leading at the point.

The Houston Rockets are trading Dorian Finney-Smith and three second-round picks to the Charlotte Hornets, sources tell ESPN.

Restricted free agent Tari Eason has agreed to a five-year, $81.5 million deal to return to the Houston Rockets, sources tell ESPN. The deal is fully guaranteed for Eason.

Kevin Durant is a player Houston pounced on because the price was too good to pass up. They’re certainly trying to compete, but they don’t care about *his* timeline. They care about everyone under 26-years-old.

So far, the Rockets are having the kind of offseason I wanted them to have: a boring one with tweaks, not wholesale changes. As someone who thought they were a real title contender pre-VanVleet injury, I don’t want them chucking precious assets to do something rash. We’ll see if this remains the case.

Free agent Bogdan Bogdanovic has agreed to a one-year deal with the Houston Rockets, sources tell ESPN. Rockets executives recruited Bogdanovic tonight and now land an established, playoff-tested shooter for his 10th NBA season.

The Rockets were looking to trade into the last few picks of last night's first round, sources say. Not much of a surprise they're the team to jump into the 31st pick, where Houston plans to take Bruce Thornton.

The incredible 1-2 punch! cc: @ca_rockets
